Conventional lighting technologies like fluorescent and HID historically spike every spring and summer, but does the same trend apply to LEDs? Some national distributors think so!
A lighting product manager in Minnesota, told LightED Magazine, “In the upper Midwest, the seasons still have an impact on lighting sales since we have a limited time for construction, so there’s always a rise in sales related to exterior lighting and major project work during the summer and fall months.” However, due to the ease of installation with regards to LED lights, many installations and projects still take place during the course of the year.
Distributor experts agreed on several key points to level the playing field when it comes to staying on top of LED lighting sales trends:
- Diversify operations and use creative strategies to balance the dips in the annual LED sales cycle
- Use “unproductive” months to update customers on new products
- Use slower sales months for new training and education for employees
Ultimately, LED companies are working on marketing strategies that keep them busy year round, despite the changing of the seasons and construction seasons in their states.
As an LED lighting distributor, how are you working to keep your company busy throughout the year? What steps are you taking to ensure you have leads all year round?
